WORKING WITH THE FLOCK

At the beginning of the week I sent off some poo samples for the vet to check for the presence of the fluke parasite in all our sheep.

Fluke lives in the bile duct and causes catastrophic damage to the liver. It is more often than not fatal to the host sheep be that very quickly/suddenly orΒ  slowly causing weight loss and lethargy as the liver can no longer turn food into energy.

So it is very important that we treat the flock when appropriate.

All the flock came in, including the boys, they all got weighed so we could administer the correct dosage, given the medicine via a ‘drench’, a liquid down the throat, and the ewes were body condition scored to ensure adequate fat stores for this point in their pregnancy.

All the flock behaved impeccably and no other problems were found which was great news!!

A good sheep day!!!!!

We are just waiting for the scannerman now to come and tell us how many lambs were expecting!!!! 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻
